C4.1. Element pl-multiple-choice: Input of multiple choice answers

Questions below were designed to showcase the different features of pl-multiple-choice. The goal of pl-multiple-choice is to allow users to select a single option from a list of choices. To allow for more than one option, please consider using pl-checkbox.

Part 1

Here, you can observe the default behavior of the pl-multiple-choice element. In particular, all options are presented in a randomized form. Only one option may be selected from the list.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 2

Here, the pl-multiple-choice element is restricted to displaying 4 choices with one of the choices being the correct answer. In addition, the choices are placed "inline" instead of being displayed within a list. We also set hide-score-badge="True" to hide the partial score percentage and badge.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 3

Here, the pl-multiple-choice element displays options as they were written, e.g. order="fixed", which means there is no randomization of choices. Moreover, the weight of this question has also been increased meaning it will contribute more to the overall score than other elements.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 4

Here, letter keys are hidden with hide-letter-keys="true". This option is especially useful when the answer options themselves are letters.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 5

Here, the pl-multiple-choice element displays "All of the above" and "None of the above" as options below the correct and incorrect options provided. By setting these options to "random", the options could be correct with the same probability as all of the individual correct options. The number of options displayed is also consistent across all variants, and is determined automatically if number-answers is not set.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 6

The options for "All of the above" and "None of the above" can also be set to always be incorrect (i.e., a distractor).

What is the color of the sky?

Part 7

Here, you can observe the behavior of the feedback attribute in pl-answer. Feedback is expected to convey a small piece of information that explains why an answer is correct or incorrect. When an answer with a feedback setting is selected and graded, a small box containing the feedback is displayed next to the answer.

What is the color of the sky?

Part 8

Here, you can observe the behavior of the score attribute in pl-answer. The score for a question the percentage of points given to it if selected (default is 0 for incorrect answers and 1 for correct ones). This also allows no submission by the student, done by setting allow-blank="true".

What is the color of the sky?

Part 9

Here, we observe the dropdown display option. This lets students input an answer from a dropdown list instead of choosing from multiple choice radio buttons. Note that the dropdown list supports $\LaTeX$ rendering. We have set size="25" to keep the display a fixed size. The default text has also been changed by setting placeholder="Select a color".
